Scope and content
This object is a pair of Chinese dancing accessories made of fabric with wooden handles. The handles of the object are long a cylindrical with a ridged pattern near the top and a more circular bottom. Near the bottom a hole has been drilled through the wood presumably for strings to be tied through for the object to be held on the wrists. Attached to the top of the handles are cardboard petals which make up the main body of the object. There are five petals in total attached to a circular base and are tied with strings midway up the object. Around the circular base there are some frilly pieces of colorful fabric attached. These petals are made of a thick cardboard which I blue on the inside and covered in fabric on the outside. The bottoms of these petals are green silk with a brown embroidered swirl pattern on the edges. The tops of the petals are a hot pink color made with a silk fabric and with colorful threaded embroidered designs on the fabric. The tips of the petals also have threaded brown edging. Coming out of the middle of the petals are piece of light pink and yellow silk fabric which are frayed on the edges presumably from the dancing.
