Scope and content
A Chinese bowl, probably used for rice. The object is a glazed piece of porcelain, hand turned, with a blue green tone underglaze applied to the exterior and a green grey tone underglaze applied to the interior. This piece may be referred to as "Celadon" ware. A potter's mark appears on the underside of the bowl in blue brush. The mark looks to be typical of a "shop mark" which are often difficult to transcribe. An etched mark appears inside of the bowl at the bottom, and it looks to be a variation of the symbol for "Public".
