Scope and content

The handle of the dustpan is a long cylindrical rod of wood which is attached to the backside of the dustpan in a vertical position. The handle has a rounded top and the wood is light brown in color and smooth. Near the bottom end a notch was cut out of the side of the rod and this is where is attaches to the dustpan. The dustpan itself is made of a silver colored metal that has loads of rust and dirt built up on its surface. The back of the pan is a square, the sides are triangular and the bottom is rectangular creating an open faced base from the object. Attached at and angle down the top sides of the object are wooden beams which are held in place by metal rivets. A small wooden beam also runs across the top inside of the square back. This wooden piece are presumably to support the metal and to keep the dustpan from losing its shape. The inside of the bottom piece is the most rusted with some metal even flaking away. On the bottom there is a impression of a maker's mark but it is illegible.
