Scope and content

This object is a lion figurine made of white stone with black flecks. The base of the figurine is composed of two rectangular platforms with a thick cube of stone in the middle. The bottom platform has a ridged edge and one corner is broken off. The center cube has some designs scored into the stone with the flat top platform sitting on top. The lion figurine is carved out of stone and is attached to the top of this base. The lion is sitting on its back legs. One of its front legs is slightly raised on what appears to be a rock while the other is flat on the base. Around the top of the body and neck there is a collar around the lion with two stripes of either hair or drool under the mouth. The mouth has a full set of teeth with four larger fangs. The mane of the lion is curly in the back and around the sides although the top of the head gives the appearance of baldness. The face of the lion figurine gives the appearance that one would think of when they look at a gargoyle.
