A Chinese bowl probably used for rice. The object is a glazed piece of porcelain with an all over white under glaze. hand brushwork applied over the glaze decorates the exterior sides of the bowl. The brushwork consists of multi-coloured enamels depicting dragon on one side and a stylized bird on the other side. The two (2) renditions are separated and bordered by gold which surrounds the base ring and outer rim as well. Although Chinese in appearance, it is not typical of any style, and it was probably made for export. A potter's mark in red does appear on the underside of the piece. Ph1 2006 Ph2 2007
