Apron, worker's

A beige coloured worker's apron. A total of three pocket appear on the front of the artifact. At the top of these are a total of four steel fasteners, upon each of which "TROY" appears in raised lettering. A neck loop has been attached to the body of the item through the use of two similar fasteners. There is a belt which has a steel fastening device and a black painted button for fastening the belt. On the back of the artifact, "TSANG PAT LOW" appears in black hand printed lettering.; DE2 PH1 2006

Very small tubular three-piece mould colourless glass bottle. No markings. Cork in top opening. Note: The term "colourless" is used to describe glass withoiut any colour. Colourless glass requires silica (sand) which is almost free of iron, and both a flux and a stabilizer without any noticeable impurities.

A clear glass bottle inside a cardboard box, with directions on a sheet of paper. All the directions are in Chinese, but below the instructions, "U-I-OIL SOLE MANUFACTURER WOG CHEUNG WH" appears in English printing. The bottle is oval shape, with almost straight shoulders. A cork stopper is in the top. The glass is full of many tiny air bubbles. There are two seams, which run from the base to the top lip. These seams are kitty corner from each other. A red and orange label appears on one side, with Chinese print and "U-O-OIL..." appearing at the bottom in English printing. Three Chinese symbols appear vertically on back of the bottle. A brown liquid is in the bottle. The box is orange brown, with red print. "54364" and "54326" appearing on the side. A side flap for this box has come off and is inside the box.

This tin contianer has a small lip both top and bottom, and a seam down one side. There is a strip of metal which has been shaped so that it has a half circular groove and each side of the strip is attached to the can. The screw on lid has a diameter of 4.8cm and it has a paper liner. On removal of the lid a strong odour of fuel oil is noticed.

A child's woven cap. It is deep red with stripes of light pink and green near the top and stripes of light pink, green and dark pink at the bottom border. There are Chinese "double happiness" characters woven in on one side in dark pink. Also in the centre of these characters is thread where a gold nugget had been sewn on. PH1 2006 PH2 2007

A light pink cotton childs dress. The pink has a flowered design, with a shiny pink thread. The sleaves are short with a cuff. The neck, cuffs, waist, and bottom are hand embroidered with blue nob boarders. The dress buttons up the back with three hexegonshape white buttons and a metal snap on the collar. The top of the dress, including the sleaves, is lined with pink flannel. There is a 1.4cm hem at the bottom of this dress.

A black silk Chinese dress. The artifact is lined with turquoise-blue silk. The black silk has a floral design weaved in it.The dress buttons up the proper right side, directly below the armpit. Three silk eye-lets secures three flowered silk buttons. Aflap is sewn halfway down, attached to the back portion of the dress, to form a top. A square pocket is sewn to this inside flap and is concealed by the front. The top has two dual black silk buttons, one set before the collar and one set on the collar. The black is trimed with a thin black trim. The span of the arms is 140.2cm.

A black paper and dark brown bamboo fan. The fan consists of twenty-eight strips of bamboo which are riveted together at one end. The rivet is a small section of bamboo. The top section of the strips are covered with black paper. The paper folds with eachsection of bamboo. Gold Chinese print appears on one side of the paper. When the fan is fully opened it measures 45.0 cm. wide.

A group of Chinese men are sitting on a manicured lawn in what appears to be the garden area of a home. The clothing they are wearing suggests a formal meeting. Some are wearing ribbons attached to their lapels. (see also P6396) Borg/Bong(?) Ching Mah, Chinese School teacher at bottom right.

This Chinese hat is the style which is worn by peasants and coolies. The hat is constructed of bamboo and bamboo leaves. The wide brim measures 54.3cm in diameter and the height of the hat is approx. 22.0cm. The crown rises in a cone with curved sides, it is made of finely pleated bamboo with an interior lining of bamboo leaves covered with thin paper. The entire outer surface is covered with thing paper. The entire outer surface is covered with a type of glaze. The hat is worn squarely on the head and is secured under the chin with a cloth cord.

A Chinese childs hat. Made of a square section of quilted red material. The corners being rounded. Two of the are sides folded in and the corners pleted. Each pleted corner has a ear with white fur sewn on the inside of each. The back of the ears are redwith a blue and black trim. In front of the two ears between the pletes two rows of thin blue and black trim are sewn in front of this are two strips of black silk with green flowered material between the strips. Hanging from the end of each plete is a cloth string.

A girls' Chinese cotton jacket. The jacket is blue with floral motifs sewn into the fabric. The edges of the jacket are strips of white cloth with black flowers. It has a draw-string waist. This jacket is the one in the photograph 2000.70.1. It was worn by Miss. Florence Tsang daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tsang How Quon. Please note that the previous numbers before 2000.0070.0009 are photographs and are contained in the photograph files.

The glue is only across the top so this label hasto be lifted to read the English print. Chinese print, in blue, appears inside a boarder on this seperate label.
