A very old Chinese almanac. It has no spine, but the pages are bound together by a red string in four places along the spine edge. Since the Chinese read from right to left, all of the following cover descriptions will be referred to in this way. The front cover is brightly decorated, predominant colour being red. It shows a large picture of a man sitting down with five small boys pulling an open sack before him; the sack appears to contain fruit. The back cover is pink with red lettering.

A small portable wooden altar. Two ornate, plastic, gold-coloured electric candles come with it. A wire reaches out the back to plug in the candles.

Hand woven, Chinese-style wicker basket. Lid is missing beads in several spots. Bottom of basket has thick ring which supports the basket. There are many items inside including a tape measure, wool, thread, lace, cord, elastics and buttons.

A dark basket woven from what seems to be strips of bamboo. Wire has been wound around the rim, down one side, across the bottom and up the other side. This was probably to add strength for carrying. Chinese manufacture.

A large, circular, vegetable drying basket from the Pekin Restaurant (proprietor Sue Lem Bing). It is of woven construction and the sides and base are one piece. It appears to be made out of thin strips of bamboo and the horizontal bands on the sides are bound together in groups of three; the vertical bands are diagonal. On the outside of the base is a thick X. Around the outside of the base and rim, are tightly wrapped and twisted, small, thick strips, of the same material. On the outside of the basket, on one side, are three columns of large Chinese characters in black paint. Translated it means Dried Beans.

A large basket woven out of strips of bamboo of varying sizes. Larger strips form the frame while smaller strips fill in the form.

Blouse of a rough black material with a slight shine. The blouse is long in a Chinese-style with a high collar of 6cm. Diagonal side closure with small frog closures. Slit on side 32.5cm. Inner side lining spans 24cm inwards and 47 cm in length from shoulder. Inner lining has a blue pocket. Goes with pants CVM 012.80.5.

Blue, wool, ladies blouse with thin white vertical pin stripes 1cm apart. Blouse is in Chinese style with slits measuring 23.5 cm up from the hem. Blouse widens at bottom. Blouse has high, small collar. Diagonal closing on one side with four frog button closures.

Green and grey, small checkered ladies blouse in Chinese style. The bottom of the blouse flares outwards and has a 24 cm slit on each side from the hem. It has a diagonal side closing with four frog closure buttons. The interior of the collar (facing) has a black background with white leaves and grapes.

This is a ring-necked, green glass, Chinese whiskey bottle. On the bottom is Chinese writing. There are many bubbles in the glass.

A small, clear, glass, round bottle. A lip edges the neck. Chinese characters are embossed on one side.

A brown glass 'SLOAN'S LINIMENT' bottle with a yellow lid and label. The label has a drawing and signature of 'Dr. Earl S. Sloan' and Chinese characters. There is an ingredient list on the side. This product is by 'STANDARD LABORATORIES INC. MORRIS PLAINS, NEW JERSEY, U.S.A.' There is some liniment inside the bottle. The expiry date is 'JAN 1994'.

A blue-black, vase-shaped Chinese tiger whiskey bottle. Made from clay pottery with a smooth glaze on all surfaces inside and out. The bottom surface glaze is brown, as is the inside of the neck. The inside also appears to be brown but there is a dirt coating inside the bottle. There appear to be two worn Chinese symbols in the centre of the base, with a possibility of other symbols in an outer ring of the base.

A very small Chinese bottle probably used to hold medicine. There are Chinese characters on the bottom and on the sides.

A small Chinese medicine bottle with some Chinese characters on the neck. The glass has a slight greenish cast to it.

A half-pint, green milk bottle. There are no markings on the bottle.

A small, pale green tinted glass bottle with a long neck with a lip. There are Chinese characters embossed on neck and base.

A small, clear glass bottle that says "Made in China" and has Chinese symbols written above that. There are no other identifying markings on the bottle.

A small Chinese bottle probably used for medicine.

A Chinese bottle which contained whiskey. It has a ring around the base of the neck and is called a "ring top whiskey" bottle. The glass is dark green. There are Chinese characters on the bottom.

A small, light green bottle used for medicine. It has Chinese characters on three sides. The cork is caught inside the bottle.

A Chinese "tiger whiskey" bottle made of pottery. It has a rounded body that works into a very narrow neck, then the lip spreads out again. The bottle is a dark brown with a very dull finish. On the bottom are impressed "Wing Lee Wai - China" and some Chinese characters. We are informed that this bottle could have contained "Ng-Kapy." which could be the tiger whiskey.

A small, round, flat-shaped bottle made of clear glass. It possibly contained a medicine which was referred to as a "one-shot" medicine because of the small volume of the bottle.
