Imported from China by the manager of the Lun Yick Chinese Opera House on Pine Street in Nanaimo's Chinatown. Lun Yick translated as 'group will benefit' and was the name of the group which bought the land to build the theatre in 1912. This chair was made without glue or nails. It was used as a prop onstage by actors in the 400-seat theatre.
