Clear glass bottle, circular base sealed with cork and wax at mouth. Contains a fine powder of brown-cinnamon colour. Paper label printed with Chinese characters on side.

Ceramic Chinese ginger jar. Blue-green glaze, possibly iron which would date it as fairly old. Grey around base and neck of jar. Red, rust-like patches showing through glaze. Six panels, each with a different design. Possibly some of these designs are Chinese characters. A row of bumpy design circles the top.

A stack (4 across, 8 wide) of wooden matches, called Chinese matches; this packet was bought in Vancouver in the early 1900's. The ends of the matches were dipped in sulphur.

This item is from Jumbo’s Cabin in Chinatown, Cumberland B.C. Jumbo (Hor Sue Mah) was one of the last residents of Cumberland’s Chinatown; his cabin is the last remaining structure.
