Notes area

Physical condition

Immediate source of acquisition

From the Sue Lem Bing property on Lewis St. off York St. The buildings on that property were demolished in July of 1991. Most artifacts from this accession came from the outlying buildings which were the living quarters for those Chinese who relied on Sue Lem Bing to find work for them. Sue Lem Bing was a work-boss for the lumber companies and lumber mill operators who came to rely on him to find laborers for them. Some of the artifacts might have come from The Pekin Restaurant which Sue Lem Bing owned in the old Duncan Chinatown section. It was closed for demolition c. 1969.
